Training at the Huddersfield Wing Chun School is by invitation only. We therefore ask all potential students to complete a beginners course which gives you a basic overview of Wing Chun and allows us to assess your suitability. By this we mean your character and attitude to learning.
Please register for the next Huddersfield Wing Chun beginners course which will run on the dates below:
- Session 1: Monday 23rd October 2023 (19:30 – 21:30)
- Session 2: Thursday 26th October 2023 (19:30 – 21:30)
- Session 3: Monday 30th October 2023 (19:30 – 21:30)
Our beginners course runs over 3 classes and costs just £30 which is payable in full on lesson one. We find this helps students to psychologically commit to the course and attend all sessions rather than ‘dipping in and out’. The course is designed to give you a brief overview of the Wing Chun system and prepares you for the main class. By the end of the course you will know basic hand drills and stepping which teach the principles needed for ‘Chi Sau’ practice.
Students are welcome from the age of 16 years and above. Although there are no fitness requirements you should have a basic level of health to train.
We are committed to maintaining a manageable class size and ensuring that every student receives personal attention and tuition from the instructors. consequently , we believe that this will help to keep standards of training high.
Class Fees
On completion of the beginners course , if you have been asked (and wish) to join the school you will need to set up a £50 a month standing order. This covers all class fees, all grading fees (including black sash), your insurance and your school membership. School Membership grants you access to association activities such as our national Chi Sau meetings, association seminars, Hong Kong trips and training camps. You will also have access to our online members area and to half price training at the Bradford and Harrogate Wing Chun Schools.
There are no contracts or hidden costs and details for the standing order will be given to you on completion of the beginners course.
Private tuition is available on request with Rik and gradings can be taken up to three times a year.
Unfortunately we cannot offer a student discount as fees are already reduced 50% for members. Students from other schools within the association are welcome to train with us at the half price rate of £5 per class.
What to Wear
Something loose and comfortable ideally black tracksuit bottoms, a plain t-shirt, socks and indoor trainers. A school uniform can be purchased once you are invited into the school.
